The Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute is home to a number of core facilities including robotics, proteomics, microscopy, glass washing, media prep and, of course, the Toronto Centre for Phenogenomics. Most recently we have been fortunate to add new state-of-the-art facilities for genomics, sequencing and flow cytometry, overseen by Aaron Goldman, Chi-Yip Ho and Michael Parsons respectively. Each is a passionate, accessible ambassador for their cores as enablers of great science.
The equipment for these facilities has been procured through federal and provincial grants and each operates on a cost-recovery basis (without capital depreciation). If you’re not familiar with these labs’ capacity, Aaron, Yip and Michael will welcome you for a tour. In addition, each has refreshed web pages that explain what services are available.
In related news, you’ll soon see the fruits of our redesigned microscopy core facilities as well as an exciting new web interface for booking machines and learning about their capabilities. Together, these key facilities allow us to use the latest technologies to ask the most compelling questions.
Thanks to all of our experts who run them, and I look forward to seeing the results of their application.
