Second annual Chef’s Challenge: The Ultimate Battle for a Cure.
(Nov. 2, 2011 – Toronto, ON)
Canada’s hottest all-star line up, featuring food network Celebrity Chefs David Rocco, Lynn Crawford, Mark McEwan, Massimo Capra, Nadia Giosia and Chuck Hughes will join Chef Bobby Flay for the second annual Chef’s Challenge: The Ultimate Battle for a Cure presented by MasterCard Worldwide, benefiting breast and ovarian cancer education and research at Mount Sinai Hospital.
We invite you to join us in the battle against cancer on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Toronto.
The proceeds from this event will supporteducation and research of breast and ovarian cancer at Mount Sinai Hospital by providing sustainable funding to the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute and Marvelle Koffler Breast Centre of Mount Sinai. This funding will sustain the work of the Institutes’ scientists in hope of discovering innovative approaches to prevent, diagnose, and treat breast and ovarian cancers.
“Every gift in support of vital research brings new hope in the battle against breast and ovarian cancer,” said Joseph Mapa, President and CEO Mount Sinai Hospital a Mount Sinai spoke person. “Community support from events like Chef’s Challenge helps patients and their families, who rely on Mount Sinai Hospital, to continue to have access to the best resources and treatment.”
Each participant must raise a minimum of $2,500 to attend the event and watch the culinary battle unfold. The 60 highest fundraisers earn the privilege to cook with one of six Celebrity Chefs and unleash their inner master chef. The action unfolds as the Celebrity Chefs lead their teams through the process of making three courses of a five course meal while under the close watch of Chef Bobby Flay. All teams must deliver each course on-time for judging by a select panel of celebrity judges for tasting and scoring. This year, guests in the audience will also have an opportunity to participate in random table-side challenges designed by Chef Flay to test their iron chef resilience.
“I am proud to host this year’s Chef's Challenge: The Ultimate Battle for a Cure. Here’s your chance to show off your culinary skills in my Kitchen!” said Chef Bobby Flay. “Toronto, get ready for the ultimate throw down and help me raise awareness and much needed funds for Mount Sinai Hospital’s vital research and care of women and their daily battle against breast and ovarian cancer.”
After the success of last year, and raising over $1.1 million for lifesaving breast and ovarian cancer education and research at Mount Sinai Hospital, Chef’s Challenge™ is positioned as the premier culinary event in Canada.
