On Thursday, June 3, the Lunenfeld will host another exciting international scientific symposium. The theme is ‘Celebrating Research Excellence,’ and the event presents an ideal opportunity to help mark the 25th anniversary of the founding of our Institute, and also look forward to the future of biomedical research here at Mount Sinai Hospital, within Toronto’s biomedical community, and among our colleagues globally.
In recognition of the importance of training the next generation of scientists and to celebrate the successes of our past trainees, each of this year’s presenters are Lunenfeld alumni who are now performing wonderful science around the world. We thought it a great opportunity to welcome them back, catch up on their progress, and bask in some reflected glory! We are extremely proud of our network of trainees who act as ambassadors for the Lunenfeld, and go on to conduct amazing science.
This year’s Martin Breitman lecture will be given by Dr. Janet Rossant, whom many of you know spent 20 years as a Lunenfeld investigator, was a colleague and friend of Martin, and who is now Chief of Research at SickKids Hospital. Janet epitomizes research excellence and is therefore a perfect complement to this exciting program.
As hosts for the symposium we will also further profile our collaborative research efforts among Toronto’s biomedical community, and with others at international peer institutions.
I look forward to seeing you next Thursday!
